Nice, detailed replies are very welcome from where I'm standing. Also, that's not a wall of text, the ideas are separated, there are lines between the paragraphs to make reading easier...

Cavalary: . In G2 with NotR, it's just pain, definitely not what I want when I play...

Then again, this dislike of mages seems to have lasted for PB. When I played Risen I also struggled as a mage
I know some gamers revere what devs do with a game, wanting to play it "as the devs intended". I'm not one of those. If I feel a class is OP or UP, I want to modify them to "fix" them, based on my own standards. I didn't like the design of casters in notr so I tried different rule changes.

Waiting for G3 to get patched up to be playable, I skipped ahead and tried Risen. HATED it. I don't remember miuch of the game, just that becoming a mage took SO long and was SO difficult, and the game/story itself seemed to be trolling me so much that I just got tired of waiting for the game to let me have fun. Did not enjoy.
