Strijkbout: There were these TV series back in the eighties called Bring 'em back Alive and later Tales of the Gold Monkey which had a strong Indy influence.
I mentioned Tales of the Gold Monkey, it was a great series. I wish it went on for much longer than that one season.

Bring 'em back AliveI remember being not nearly as impressed by, and that despite the fact I really like Bruce Boxleitner. But maybe I should give it another shot. I'm not quite as picky as I used to be, since finding a decent tv series to watch these days, of any kind, is kind of like trying to grate cheese with a snowball.

Strijkbout: As for movies there is Welcome to the Jungle with Dwayne Johnson which has a bit of an indy vibe and I thought Peter Jackson's King Kong was also a good option.
I've seen Welcome to the Jungle quite recently, and I already forgot pretty much all of it. It wasn't terrible, just sort of bland. Plus, I'm not a fan of Dwayne Johnson. I can't for the life of me figure out how that guy became such a huge star.

Peter Jackson's Kong is indeed a good choice. It holds up as a better movie than I remembered. A lot of the CG on Skull Island aged poorly, but overall I still liked it more when I rewatched it a short while ago than I did the first time around back in the day. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just more comfortable to watch at home since it's so long, or maybe on smaller screen it's easier to focus not on the spectacle but other stuff the movie does right, cause it's a film with really good characters and plenty of heart. I also really appreciated this time around how it creates a real sense of time and place for that depression era New York. All the fantastical stuff that follows feels more grounded because of that, I really liked that.

neumi5694: No one mentioned Rick Dangerous yet, right?

The original version was for Amiga, still as good and as frustrating as ever.

Someone ported the Switch version to PC,
This looks fun. Or maybe frustrating as hell? Will have to see.

Breja: Yeah, Spelunky is actually one of the reason I like them so much.

icantype: If you don't mind roguelikes with turn-based strategies and a pulp-y adventure feel, you might want to try Pathways.

It's not perfect (I like the turn-based battles more than the strategic maps), but it has a good atmosphere and it's a lot of fun in small doses. It can also be fun to go through and unlock new characters, etc.

Only one of the starting characters is an Indiana Jones type, so the game starts to feel less like an Indy homage and more a general pulp adventure homage as you progress.
If not for the rogulike aspect I'd be all over that. And Curious Expedition 2. As it is, I'll probably only give them a shot with some massive discount.

>Sigh< so many gret opportunities wasted on the wretched roguelike fad.
